Our Story

Started young. Learned by doing.

The story behind Birds Beware Exterior Services and the owner building it in real time.

Where it started

January 7, 2023. Sixteen years old. Still in high school.

Birds Beware started with window cleaning, basic shirts, business cards, and a 16-year-old trying something of his own. I was not treating the business with the discipline I have for it now. It was the beginning — not the finished version of me or the company.

“Hi I’m Shaun with Birds Beware Window Cleaning. I’m 16 still in high school I’m in 11th grade.I wanted to start my own business because my Father and Uncle have their own business and I wanted to work for myself and help out the community and find my passion of what I wanna do in life. I wanna grow my business for when I graduate it could be one of my main focuses and then maybe branch out into other businesses such as power washing and such. Kept in the original wording as a snapshot of where the business started.

North East roots

Entrepreneurship was close enough to see.

My dad built and later sold Elite Power Washing. Birds Beware is my own company, but growing up around a service-business example made ownership feel possible. The story here stays focused on Birds Beware and the work itself.

Shaun Hampton, owner

From window cleaning to exterior services.

What began with window cleaning changed as I did. At 16, I had the idea and the name, but I was not yet giving the business the consistency it needed. Over time I started taking the work, the customers, the estimates, and my own responsibility more seriously. That is when Birds Beware began becoming a real company instead of just something I had started.

That path has not been a straight line. The point of the company is not to pretend everything was figured out from day one. It is about growth through work — becoming more disciplined, more capable, and more accountable while building a service business customers can actually rely on.

Owner-operatedInsuredLocal service business

A business built around visible results.

Birds Beware focuses on jobs where the difference can be seen: overgrowth knocked down, junk removed, a neglected space cleaned up, windows cleared, gutters cleaned, or a property brought back under control.

The long-term goal is simple: build a stronger company by doing better work, communicating clearly, and earning repeat business instead of relying on hype.

Beyond the jobs

Build the owner while building the business.

The company is only as strong as the person running it. Learning, reading, documenting mistakes, and thinking longer-term became part of the same process as learning equipment, estimates, customer service, and field work.

That growth also became the foundation for the book project supported by Birds Beware.
